Instead of the 1930s rubber hose cartoon style, this game goes full 8-bit. Think old Sonic the Hedgehog or Mega Man — that kind of vibe. The pixel art looks sharp and the gameplay from the teaser shows tight platforming with bullet-hell enemies, which is classic Cuphead.
The wild part? Studio MDHR actually built this game using Assembly Language and designed it to the exact specs of the Sega Master System. That is a real 1980s home console. They are not just making it look retro — it genuinely runs on that hardware.
So if you want to go all out, you will be able to play it on a physical Sega Master System cartridge. That is pretty crazy for a 2026 game release.
Of course, it will also come to modern consoles and PC, so you do not need an old console to play it.
