Who Is the Cuphead Coin Guy?

The coin guy in Cuphead is Quint a living coin NPC who explains why coins are scattered all over the Inkwell Isles. He hid them all around the islands himself. His exact words: “They’ll never get ahold of my gold if I spread it all around. If some joe happens to find a coin or two good for him!”

Quint is the in-game reason for all the coins you find on the overworld map. Think of him as Cuphead’s version of a treasure hunter.

How to Get Free Coins in Cuphead (No Run ‘n Gun Needed)

A lot of players hate the Run ‘n Gun levels. Good news — you can get several coins without touching them.

Here is how to get coins in Cuphead without Run ‘n Gun:

  • Tutorial coin — Complete Home Sweet Home and pick up the coin at the end
  • Mac’s coins (Isle 1) — Just talk to Mac on Inkwell Isle One. You get 3 coins with no missions or quests needed
  • Buster’s coin (Isle 2) — Do four parries in a row without landing, then speak to Buster. You can die after getting the parries and it still counts
  • Ginger’s coin (Isle 2) — Talk to Ginger once you connect the bridges, or use the secret route behind Wally Warbles’ birdhouse

That is 6 free coins before you even step into a single Run ‘n Gun level.

All Run ‘n Gun Coins (30 Coins)

Each of the three Inkwell Isles has two Run ‘n Gun levels, and each one contains five coins for a total of 30 coins across all six levels. Most coins are visible as you play through the stages, but some are hidden in side paths and off-screen areas.

Isle 1 Run ‘n Gun levels:

  • Forest Follies — 5 coins
  • Treetop Trouble — 5 coins

Isle 2 Run ‘n Gun levels:

  • Funfair Fever — 5 coins
  • Funhouse Frazzle — 5 coins

Isle 3 Run ‘n Gun levels:

  • Rugged Ridge — 5 coins
  • Perilous Piers — 5 coins

Tip: If you are playing Cuphead on APK / Android with touch controls, Run ‘n Gun levels are the hardest part of coin collecting. Take your time. Rush and you will miss coins that fall off-screen.

All Secret Coins in Cuphead (Overworld Hidden Coins)

These are the ones most players miss. They are not in any level they are hidden on the world map itself.

Secret Coin 1 (Isle 1) — Beat every boss on Inkwell Isle One. Then find Chip (the Axeboy NPC) he will move out of the way and reveal a hidden coin in the trees.

Secret Coin 2 (Isle 2) — There is a coin hidden behind a shack near Funhouse Frazzle. Walk behind it to find it.

Secret Coin 3 (Isle 3) — On Inkwell Isle Three, find the secret coin behind the ticket booth near the Cala Maria boss.

Secret Coin 4 (Inkwell Hell / Isle 4 base) — The fourth secret coin is in the Casino, behind the wall on the left-hand side of the door.

These 4 hidden coins are easy to miss on your first playthrough. Go back and grab them before you try to buy everything at the shop.

Hidden Coins Isle 3 — Full Breakdown

Isle 3 is where most players get stuck on coins. Here is everything on Inkwell Isle Three:

  • Rugged Ridge — 5 coins inside the level
  • Perilous Piers — 5 coins inside the level
  • Secret overworld coin — Behind the ticket booth near Cala Maria
  • Secret shortcut coin — A hidden path near the junkyard takes you to the theater, bypassing several bosses. There is a coin at the theater.

Total on Isle 3: 12 coins including both hidden ones.

Every Coin in Cuphead DLC (Inkwell Isle Four — 16 Coins)

The Delicious Last Course adds three new weapons and two new charms to buy at Porkrind’s shop. To buy everything, you need all 16 DLC coins.

1. Tutorial Coin (Ms. Chalice Recipe Puzzle)
In the town square, approach the food cart to the right of Chef Saltbaker’s bakery. This starts a tutorial for Ms. Chalice’s moves. Complete it and grab the coin in the upper right corner you need to use her dash parry, dodge roll, and double jump to reach it.

2–4. Free Coins From the Cat NPC
Talk to the Cat NPC on Isle Four for 3 free coins. Same as Mac in the base game. Just talk to him before crossing the bridge.

5. Hidden Coin Behind the Bakery
After picking up your weapon from Porkrind’s shop, walk behind it and keep going left. You cannot see Cuphead, but keep moving — there is a coin hidden at the end of that path behind the bakery. This is the only secret overworld coin in the DLC.

6–16. King’s Leap Challenges (11 Coins)
The King’s Leap is on Inkwell Isle Four. On the overmap you will see a ladder hanging down from the sky climb it to reach the challenges. You fight five chess piece bosses using parry only no weapons, no charms.

After defeating the Queen, you will have all 16 DLC coins and since you can get them all before fighting any DLC boss, you can buy the full arsenal before you even start the new fights.

Cuphead Coins Cheat — Does It Exist?

There is no official Cuphead coins cheat code. No button combo, no secret input.

What people call a “cheat” is usually one of these:

  • PC mods that give unlimited coins (not available on Android APK)
  • Save file editors on PC — also not for mobile
  • Replaying Run ‘n Gun levels — coins reset between sessions on some versions

On Android APK, the fastest legit method is: grab all NPC coins first (6 free coins), then clean up Run ‘n Gun levels one by one.
